Coastal Walk from Newgale Beach to Solva Harbour

Experience the stunning Pembrokeshire coastline on a scenic walk from Newgale Beach to Solva Harbour. This route takes you along golden sands, rugged cliffs, and sheltered coves, offering breathtaking sea views at every turn.

Newgale Beach

Newgale Beach stretches for over two miles, making it one of Pembrokeshire’s longest and most impressive sandy shores. The expansive beach is ideal for long walks, kite flying, and surfing, while paths along the shoreline provide stunning views of St Bride’s Bay. On clear days, you can even catch sight of the distant Skokholm and Skomer islands, adding a sense of wildness to the horizon.

Wildlife Along the Coast

The coast between Newgale and Solva is alive with wildlife. Seabirds such as gulls, cormorants, and oystercatchers are a familiar sight along the cliffs and beaches, while seals are often spotted swimming in the sheltered waters of St Bride’s Bay. During spring and summer, the cliff tops bloom with colourful coastal flowers like thrift, sea campion, and delicate orchids, making the walk as vibrant as it is invigorating.

Solva Harbour

Arriving at Solva Harbour, you’ll find a historic fishing harbour with roots stretching back to the 18th century. Once a busy hub for the herring and lobster trade, the harbour today is renowned for its colourful boats and charming cottages lining the quay. Solva continues to thrive as a centre for sailing, kayaking, and exploring the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, making it a delightful destination to end your walk.
