Behind the Name

The Ap Gruffydd Room is named after the Welsh prince Rhys ap Gruffydd, who ruled over the Kingdom of Deheubarth in the 12th century. He was a powerful ruler and was known for his resistance against the Normans, who were attempting to invade Wales.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in is available from 4pm to 7pm, and check-out is by 11am. Please note, we do not offer late check-ins. If you are unable to arrive by 7pm, we can offer Twr y Felin Hotel, St Davids, instead.

 

Is Roch Castle open to the public?

Roch Castle is exclusively reserved for resident guests, ensuring privacy and tranquillity.

Can the entire castle be booked for exclusive use?

Yes, Roch Castle can be hired exclusively for private stays and celebrations. Find out more here.

Are children allowed to stay?

The castle welcomes guests aged twelve years and over.

Is there on-site parking?

Yes, complimentary on-site parking is provided for all guests, including EV charging points.

Is there a restaurant at Roch Castle?

No, only breakfast is available for resident guests.

 

Where can I dine during my stay?

Guests can enjoy dinner at Blas Restaurant at our sister hotel, Twr y Felin, or we can recommend local dining options.

 

Do you offer transfers or transport assistance?

Taxis can be organised by reception on request. We do not offer private shuttle service.

 

Does the property have Wi-Fi?

Yes, free Wi-Fi is provided throughout the castle.

Are pets permitted?

Roch Castle is a hypoallergenic property, and pets are not permitted, other than registered assistance dogs.

Is Roch Castle accessible for guests with mobility needs?

Due to its historic structure, accessibility is limited. Please get in touch with us in advance to discuss your specific requirements.

Can weddings or small events be hosted at Roch Castle?

Yes, intimate weddings, elopements, and private gatherings can be arranged by prior booking.

Is there a minimum night stay?

Minimum stay requirements may apply during peak periods.

The small print

Terms and Conditions
  • Check-in is available between 4pm and 7pm.
  • We accept bookings for children aged 12 years and above, who are accommodated in their own room or share with one adult per room. Extra beds and cots are not available.
  • As a hypoallergenic property, we do not accept pets, and they cannot be left in guest vehicles overnight.
  • Roch Castle has a non-smoking policy throughout the venue and its grounds.
  • Please notify us of any special dietary requirements or food allergies in advance.

Cancellation Policy

Flexible Bookings

 

At the time of booking, you will be asked for your card details to secure the reservation. We will charge you the full amount for your stay upon departure.

In the event of cancellation after 12 midday, two days prior to arrival, we will deduct the first night accommodation rate as the cancellation fee.

In the event of a no-show, we will deduct the first night’s accommodation rate as the no-show fee.

 

No Refundable Bookings

 

At the time of booking, you will be charged the full accommodation rate. All food, beverage and extras will be charged on departure.

In the event of cancellation or no-show, we will retain the full payment as a cancellation fee.

Self-Catering Bookings

Should you have to cancel your booking, the initial deposit is non-refundable. Please see below for cancellation fees.

 

  • More than 60 days, 30% of the booking costs
  • 30 – 60 days, 75% of booking costs
  • Less than 30 days, 100% of booking costs
