A RESTLESS GRAVE
The story begins after the death of Adam de Rupe. He was laid to rest in the churchyard at Roch, close to the castle he had called home. But the following morning, something strange had happened. His grave had been disturbed, and his body was nowhere to be found.
RETUREND TO ROCH
The search eventually led to Llangwm, where the body was discovered outside St Jerome’s Church, many miles from Roch. His family and servants brought him back to Roch and buried him once again. Yet the following morning, the same thing happened. Somehow, his body had returned to Llangwm.
THE FINAL RESTING PLACE
The tale says this happened several times before the family finally accepted that Adam did not wish to remain at Roch. The body was taken to Llangwm for the final time, where it was buried at St Jerome’s Church and left undisturbed.
